Q. What is a certified personal property appraisal?
A. An appraisal is a legal document or a verbal opinion which describes property and estimates of value.

Q. Why should I get an Appraisal of my valuable personal property?
A. The best reason may be to understand what you have in your possession. If you are a small business owner and need to borrow money from a bank an appraisal can validate what you list on your personal balance sheet. An appraisal can also help you with insurance claims, help satisfy IRS requirements when making a charitable donation and paying estate taxes. Appraisals can be used to assist with estate planning or to divide property equitably. Appraisals will be a guide for you to price your property for sale.

A. Not in the State of Missouri or Illinois but we do follow the Certified Appraisers Guild professional standards and ethics.

Q. Can you Appraise diamonds?
A. No, a gemologist is the only person who can accurately grade a diamond. Our appraisers’ offer personal property appraisals “lots” of estate / vintage jewelry, however, just not diamonds. We have a resource we use that will appraise diamonds and gems.

Q. What fees are associated with a CAGA In Home personal property appraisal?
A.There is a $285.00 non refundable initial set up and visitation fee for an In Home examination of the property, assessment and consultation. Payment is accepted via credit card before an engagement visit is made. Additional portfolio levels of services for market research, valuation, written documentation and photos are subject to fees defined during the initial visitation.

Q. What is a CAGA Quick Opinion of Value personal property and its fee?
A.CAGA Quick Opinion of Value can be provided based upon detailed digital photos submitted to our experts via e-mail. An opinion of value will be sent via return email within 36 hours. Quick Opinion of Value fees are subject to $38.00 per item submission and will be billed from a credit card before an opinion is started. If the item cannot be opinionated because of poor quality pictures or for any other reason your item fee will be refunded.

Q. How often should I update my appraisal?
A.This depends upon the items but at the very least every three years and should be discussed with our CAGA appraiser.
